More on NPs Marked for Speaker Ignorance

[from Line Mikkelsen at UC Santa Cruz]

I read your posting on April 23, 2003 about noun phrases marked for speaker ignorance and thought I would send you references to two other papers on this topic. Both were presented at SALT 12 in San Diego.

\1. The first is on French NPs like `un N quelconque’, `quelque’, and `un certain’ and it’s by Jacques Jayez and Lucia Tovena: J. Jayez and L.M. Tovena, Determiners and (Un)certainty. Proceedings of SALT 12, CLC Publications, 2002. It is also available for download (ps file) from Tovena’s page.

\2. The second one is on English `a (n)’, `some’, and `a certain’ and it is by Donka Farkas: Farkas, Donka (2002) Varieties of indefinites. Proceedings of SALT 12, CLC Publications, 2002. It is also available for download (pdf file) from Donka’s page.
